explore your local: exercise

runyon. glorious runyon.

With carmageddon breathing down our necks, I bring you the second installment of explore your local, this one focusing on the ever daunting and perpetually, sickeningly easily avoidable exercise.

I hate to exercise. Ok, I don’t hate it, I actually really like it. I hate to elliptical mindlessly, I hate to stare at four grey/kinda sticky walls and an over jacked/tanned/beefed up man sweating at the free weights. I hate counting down the seconds until 45 minutes is up. So, I normally don’t.

My relationship with exercise was at it’s best when, surprisingly, I was abroad. I walked everywhere (sometimes with groceries…resistance training anyone?).  And it was glorious.

 

So in the spirit if LA vie europa I must pick it up again. Carmageddon is the perfect kickstart/excuse to move my butt this weekend.

A few ways to exercise without knowing you’re doing it:

  • literally run (or jog) some errands. Your thighs will thank you.
  • walk around your own neighborhood. You never know who the house guests down the street are…

will & kate stayed right around the corner!!

  •  head to a nearby park for free yoga- it seems like almost ALL parks in LA have some form of free or donation yoga classes available on the weekends. Runyon Canyon is a favorite!
  • antique/farmers market/other dorky pastime. Either way, you’re moving those legs!
