these words: take care

15 Sep

“Treat your body like a temple, not a woodshed….If you take good care of it, your body can take you wherever you want to go, with the power and the strength and energy and vitality you will need to get there.”

~ Jim Rohn

A good friend of mine has recently been trying a raw/vegan diet to “clean up” a bit, and I can’t help but admire her tenacity and dedication to protecting and enhancing her life through this (often intense) lifestyle. A raw way of eating requires a lot of work, but she has somehow made it happen gracefully and with joy.

As someone who thrives on cheese, bread etc. our macrobiotic /vegan dinner last night at Real Food Daily inspired me to clean house a bit myself… Now I don’t think I’m going to be able to jump mung-bean first into the raw or even vegan lifestyle, but I will begin to make more of an effort to pay attention to what I put in my mouth and how it will affect my “temple”.

broke is the new black

22 Aug

I love how everyone is jumping on this trend.

Broke sure IS the new black- especially when you’re a young post-grad in Hollywood (even the LA Times thinks so…). Let’s all embrace our current ‘situation’ and get on with our fabulously broke selves.

LA vie europa is about saving money and enjoying life more after all, isn’t it?

great expectations: outdoor fun

29 Jul

With a generous ‘summer Friday’ and the promise of a beautiful So Cal weekend ahead, here are a couple of things I am looking forward to this weekend!

1. Open Market Place LA: featured this week on Daily Candy I can’t wait to explore this Parisian inspired / Hollywood located outdoor market and see what unique treasurers I come across…

2. ISC‘s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” at Griffith Park Zoo: in the spirit of summer fun, mom arranged ‘front row’ tickets for this fabulous show. Even the LA Times is raving. Perhaps I’ll have to work on packing a gourmet picnic; I am oh so ready for the red jug of homemade mojitos part deux!

What adventures are you looking forward to this weekend?
